ABOUT THE Session

Case studies about successful projects and outcomes are one of most common ways that a company or organization demonstrates its capabilities and thought leadership.

Yet writing a case study that your listeners - or readers - actually care about is much harder than it might seem.

This class will give you new insight into how you can craft and package examples of your company or organization’s most defining work to make an unforgettable impression.

We’ll introduce you to a new way to structure your case studies (besides the typical problem/solution/result format), and using a real-life example, we’ll demonstrate how you can use storytelling techniques to turn run-of-the-mill content into more riveting portrayals of your company’s capabilities and biggest successes.

After you experience and analyze our “before and after” transformation, you’ll leave with new inspiration and tips that you can use to turn your uninspired case studies into more powerful case stories.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • The neuroscience that proves why stories work;

  • How run-of-the-mill case story content can be transformed into powerful stories;

  • The structural differences between a case study and a case story;

  • How to make stories short - and shorter.

  • A story-building formula you can use to craft your own stories:

  • How vulnerability, suspense, surprise, and "telling details" can make your business stories more dramatic and memorable;

  • Questions you can ask yourself — and others — to find your best stories.

OPTIONAL LEARNING LAB WORKSHOP AVAILABLE

Looking to offer participants a hands-on experience after they take this class? Our Learning Lab add-on class may be just the thing.  Learning Labs give participants a chance to bring in their own content and practice key skills for instructor feedback.  So that we can offer a personalized experience, we limit the number of attendees who can join each Learning Lab. Each participant will be asked to complete some light “pre-work” beforehand so they come to the session warmed up and ready to go.
