ABOUT THE SESSION

When you’re a leader, one of your key tasks is to share your strategic vision, a vision that will move your team, organization or client forward.

But whether you are recommending a change in a current strategy – or introducing an entirely new one – there’s a challenge you must take on. You need to persuade others that your vision is on point and motivate those around you to embrace your ideas and the changes ahead.

Fortunately, there are techniques that you can use to excel at this critical task. One of the most powerful - and underutilized - is storytelling.

This workshop will introduce you to a specific storytelling framework that you can use to share your strategic vision with finesse. You’ll learn how to blend your own key insights and knowledge of broader marketplace trends to create an all-important breadcrumb trail for your ideas. Not only will you be able to demonstrate why your particular recommendation is strategically important, but also why embracing your vision right now is critical as well.

Use this framework in your next “sharing the vision” presentation or conversation and you’ll see the difference. Instead of checking their smartphones, people will be fully engaged – and eager to hear your next steps.

Once you commit to learning this storytelling technique, you’ll see why storytelling is a “superpower” that you can use to change the way people think, feel and behave.

what you’ll learn

  • Two frameworks that will help you harness the power of storytelling to own the room and generate support for your important ideas;

  • How to present external trends, insights, and shifts in the marketplace to amplify the impact of your recommendations;

  • The importance of sharing the “why” before the “what”;

  • How to get your colleagues and other stakeholders to see the world – and your vision – from your perspective;

  • How to sequence your content so that you build suspense and interest;

  • The power of using the present tense;

  • What element in your presentation you should wait to reveal until the very end.

OPTIONAL learning lab WORKSHOP AVAILABLE

Looking to offer participants a hands-on experience after they take this class? Our Learning Lab add-on class may be just the thing.  Learning Labs give participants a chance to bring in their own content and practice key skills for instructor feedback.  So that we can offer a personalized experience, we limit the number of attendees who can join each Learning Lab. Each participant will be asked to complete some light “pre-work” beforehand so they come to the session warmed up and ready to go.
